The star hasn't turned up.  It's thought he is still in bed back at the motel.  So the manager insists that the stage hand (who just happens to be the star's twin brother) keeps the audience amused until he can get the star to the venue.  The stage hand turns out to be very talented, totally lacking any confidence, a little accident prone and very very funny.

Just as the stage hand is running out of ways to amuse his audience the manager returns with the star who, still in his dressing gown and cleaning his teeth the show goes into top gear.
